So Small
Second Life avatar, PatriciaAnne Daviau, is goddess of the small, building tiny houses, and even whole cities on a micro scale in the virtual world, Second Life. Our video documents her work to the sound track of Carrie Underwood's "So Small." Creating a world within a world, or a play within a play, is a time worn literary device as old as the Bible. It was used by Shakespeare. Its migration into virtual reality seems inevitable and welcome, especially when as well done as PatriciaAnne does it. In addition to its entertainment value, spending some time at her corner of IMB sandbox 6, stirs the imagination, and sparks a sense of wonder. But there remains this challenge .... who can construct an avatar small enough to walk the streets of virtual Venice or steer a gondala though one of its canals?
